Urban Sensibility

Urban Sensibility Created with Japanese traditional aesthetics

Japanese people find something old beautiful as well as something new, which changes across the ages.

That is what they call Wabi-sabi. In other words, it means sustainable lifestyle. Wabi-Sabi is a Japanese concept of aesthetics and the belief that objects gain value through use and age. They find shabby houses, furniture and tools of long history valuable, and find lifestyle with such stuffs rich.  This “tea Japan” project is an activity of new concept which is a kind of Japanese tea spirit  in order to spread such sustainable lifestyle all over the world.

In the Kamakura Period (1192-1333 ), Zen Buddhism was introduced to Japan and it gave the gardening spirituality.

According to Zen way of thinking, they tried to form a certain state of mind acquired through daily ascetic training into materials, and it led to development of calligraphy and ink brush painting.  Some Buddhist priests started to project their mind onto gardens as a space structure, and gardening became one of ascetic training as well as seated meditation and cleaning duty.  Zen Buddhism brought Chanoyu, the rituals for serving and drinking Japanese tea, and it gave gardens sense of tension to be beginning of gardening history that enhances human nature through dialogue between human and the garden.  This project of the world of tea, “tea japan” started off under the guidance of the master of Oubakubaisa school of sencha.  Here is his words. “It is dawning of Japanese era.  We have to contribute to people around the world with pride and preparedness...”

We have started this project and introduce not only gardens and architectures but also all Japanese culture including food, clothing and housing and rooms with sense of Zen Buddhism.
